An open-concept kitchen with calming neutral colors and luxurious accents is just the start of what this space has to offer. The perimeter of this kitchen remodel was designed in a shaker painted Light Gray with the island in Signature Plus line’s Newport Fossil. This color combination creates a relaxed yet upscale look to build off with chandeliers, countertops, and other accessories.
Tearing Down the Old
Designer Tim Hammond partnered closely with his client Ellie on her kitchen. Ellie had mapped out most of the kitchen, but collaborated with Tim on execution. A big hurdle they had to overcome was removing a large wall with pillars behind the sink in the existing crescent-shaped island. Once that was torn down, it gave them the flexibility to update the current layout with a new door style, finish, and cabinet accessories.
Accessories & Accents
Kitchen storage was optimized by adding roll-out trays by the sink, tray dividers above the refrigerator, and multi-storage drawers next to a built-in microwave. Creating an upscale aesthetic meant developing a focal point of stacked wall cabinets and crown molding, and the appearance of a built-in refrigerator with deep panels. Warmth was brought into the design by adding gold hardware, accent lighting, and a flashy gooseneck faucet.
‘It was a very smooth and seamless process’ explained Tim. Ellie knew what she wanted from the start, she only needed to confirm colors by ordering some door samples. In the end, this staggering, eclectic kitchen was happily brought to life by the client’s inspiration and now emanates upscale style with a few old-world design influences. This is just a glimpse of what collaboration can accomplish.
