Shark Week Is Coming – Check Out These Shark Crafts & Activities

Did you know July 11th is the start of shark week? What a great opportunity to teach your kids all about sharks. A big scary animal that is totally misunderstood. Sharks have survived 5 mass extinctions – including the one that killed the dinosaurs so it’s only befitting that these survivors get a week dedicated to them right?

I don’t think I would ever be brave enough to pat one but did you know that Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper? Why?  because it is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales.  So when you are making your own DIY shark consider using sandpaper

as a base for a real-life scratchy shark sensation.

Did you know if you flip a shark upside down they go into a trance-like state called tonic immobility? Okay, I will try and remember that if I ever come across a shark. here sharky sharky spin upside down…
