Mosaic Knitting Patterns – Craft Gossip

Mosaic knitting is a fun knitting technique that looks more complicated than it is. Using two colors in alternating rows or rounds, strategically slipping stitches produces the color pattern.

It’s a technique I’ve been seeing a lot more of over the past few years, and if you’d like to try your hand at it (or already know how fun it is) here are a few patterns to give it a go, that you can find on Etsy.

This mosaic knit diamond tote bag is super cute and has great braided I-cord straps. The original uses DK weight yarn but you could also use worsted and make a bigger bag. The pattern is from Naonu.

Another great diamond pattern is found on this sweet baby blanket from Bubble Girl Knits. It uses worsted weight yarn so it should be pretty quick to knit.

The Find Your Way beanie from Rosie Posie Design Co. has a classic zig-zag design that’s super simple to work in worsted or heavy worsted yarn.

Bridgefield Fiberwrks offers the pretty Desert Frost shawl, which features a band of mosaic knitting as the centerpiece of a two-color design. It uses DK weight yarn.

The Intaglio Cowl from Susan Knits Design is super cozy because it’s worked as a tube for extra warmth and thickness (and the wrong side of the knitting doesn’t show). This one uses worsted weight yarn and makes a bold statement.
