Knit a Cowl Inspired by the Garden – Knitting

The Wise Weeds pattern from Catherine Clark just reminds me of the garden.

It’s a deep colorwork cowl covered with floral motifs and designs related to medicinal herbs, including nettles, red clover, skullcap, fennel, fenugreek, raspberry leaf and chasteberry. These are all herbs the designer uses in her midwifery practice.

There’s an option to line the cowl with a pattern of uterus shapes, or you could do a solid lining or no lining at all.

The design uses fingering weight yarn in many colors. The sample reminds me of moss on rocks and wandering through the woods or an old garden.

You can get the pattern for yourself from Ravelry.
