YSL Rouge Paradoxe (21) The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick ($39.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was lightweight, velvety, and smooth with moderate density but never felt thick or heavy going on, and I found it quite forgiving of lip texture and lip lines. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for six and a half hours, left a stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time.

The formula is supposed to have “full coverage” with “long-lasting semi-matte color” that has “creamy comfort.” They were very pigmented with a moderately dense, velvety consistency that was creamy without sliding around. The substance/density of the product helped the product sit more smoothly on my lips and helped them be less prone to emphasizing lip texture and settling into my lip lines.
The lipsticks were comfortable to apply, and while the diamond-shaped lipstick was unusual, I did not find it difficult to work with. Most shades lasted at least five hours with some shades lasting six to seven hours with some staining behind. The formula felt lightly hydrating over time. They had a fruity, floral scent but no discernible taste.

YSL True Chili (28) The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick ($39.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a deep copper-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to my lips and deposited color that was smoothing of my lip lines and forgiving of texture imperfections.
The lipstick had a more velvety consistency that glided on with a denser feel, but it was lightweight and comfortable to work with and to wear. It stayed on nicely for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing while worn.
