MAC Lady Bug, Glossed and Found, Succumb to Plum Lustreglass Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

[ad_1]

MAC Lady Bug Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, light-medium red with warmer, more orange undertones and a soft sheen with barely-there pearl. It had semi-sheer color payoff that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage.

The texture was lightweight, thinner but not clingy, and had light creaminess to it, which made it comfortable to apply and to wear. The product went on evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture or lip lines. It lasted well for four hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time. The color seemed slightly more pigmented and richer compared to the original.

The formula is supposed to have “sheer, buildable colour” that is moisturizing, while also being long-wearing with “six hours” of shine and “eight hours” of color.

First and foremost, these have an unexpectedly long long-wearing claim. Eight hours of wear is a feat for any lipstick, let alone one that is sheerer, more luminous, and hydrating. It likely comes as no shock that they did not wear close to eight hours. The wear ranged from three to four hours, which was in line with other, more luminous formulas of similar coverage-level and was a little longer than the average Lustre lipstick in the past (though more consistent with recently released Lustres).

The updated take on the Lustre finish is more emollient, creamier, and has more consistent coverage. It is still a lighter-weight, thinner consistency relative to MAC’s other lipsticks and most other lipstick formulas on the market. The colors that were brought back in the new formula were fairly consistent with the prior versions.

Most of the shades applied evenly, didn’t seem to catch or emphasize texture imperfections on my lips, and weren’t prone to settling into my lip lines. That being said, the current range is heavier on mid-tones, and it is often very light shades that can be the culprits of both.

The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to medium, and most shades were buildable to semi-opaque coverage, though they tended to wear down to more medium coverage within an hour or so of wear. I found that once some of the shine wore down, e.g. if one drank from a glass of water or blotted lightly, the color that remained was more like the initial layer of product.

They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

MAC Glossed and Found Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a luminous sheen with very faint, ruby red pearl. It had a smooth, lightweight consistency that was slightly thin but had some creaminess to it, so the product applied comfortably across my lips.

It had medium color payoff in one layer, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. It stayed on nicely for four hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

MAC Succumb to Plum Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a deep, purpled berry with warmer, pink undertones and a natural sheen with faint pearl. It had sheer color payoff that was buildable to semi-sheer to low-medium coverage if desired.

The consistency was lightweight, lightly creamy, and thin but not clingy, so it had more glide than the original formula did but was still in the same ballpark. Unfortunately, the color did not apply evenly, was more prone to catching along imperfections in lip texture (and this was the last of 20 shades I applied, so my lips were EXFOLIATED!!) and got into some of my lip lines a bit. This shade lasted decently for three and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing.
