ColourPop x Darth Vader Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Darth Vader

ColourPop Darth Vader 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a new, Star Wars collaboration that is inspired by Darth Vader. The palette includes four matte shades, one sparkle-matte shade, and four shimmer shades (one is a Super Shock Shadow). The eyeshadows performed consistently with ColourPop’s formula; they were pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing with some shades being a little powdery.

Stormtrooper

Stormtrooper is a light-medium, pinky-beige with more of a translucent base and fine, silvery-beige pearl. It was a Super Shock Shadow, so it featured a cream-to-powder formula that felt wet and emollient in the pan but performed and felt like a powder on the skin. It had semi-sheer, somewhat buildable coverage that stayed on well for 10 hours before fading a bit.

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Imperial Forces

Imperial Forces is a light, purplish-taupe with cool undertones and a matte finish. It applied a bit darker than it appeared in the pan. The texture was soft, smooth, and velvety with light powderiness in the pan but blended out well without being prone to fallout or sheering out too readily. It had opaque color payoff that wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Battle Station

Battle Station is a medium taupe with a hint of purple, giving it a cooler undertone, paired with a matte finish. It had a smooth, velvety texture that was blendable and easy to work with as it wasn’t too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. It yielded full color coverage in a single layer and lasted well for eight hours on me.

Gone Galactic

Gone Galactic is a light, golden brown with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation paired with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that picked up readily with a dry brush and had great adhesion and blendability on my lid. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

I am the Master

I am the Master is a brighter, medium-dark red with warm undertones and a soft, pearl-like sheen. The texture was moderately emollient and applied better with a pressing motion onto skin to avoid it sliding around a bit initially (or use a fingertip). It had opaque color coverage that wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Death Star

Death Star is a light-medium gray with subtle, warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had rich color coverage paired with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that was lightly creamy to the touch but not too slippery on the lid. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Dark Side

Dark Side has a medium-dark black base with finer burgundy micro-sparkle over a matte finish. The sparkles almost entirely disappeared in practice as they just… diffused and blew away, so while it appeared more burgundy in the pan, it ended up being a slightly softer black in practice. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage with light fallout and a somewhat powdery, albeit blendable, texture. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Sith Lord

Sith Lord is a deep burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The product had rich color payoff that was accompanied by a smooth, velvety texture that was thin without being firm, so it blended out well but could easily be built up for more control and precision. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly, but it did leave a stain behind after removal.
