ColourPop x Barbie Malibu Barbie Palette Review & Swatches

[ad_1]

Malibu Barbie

ColourPop Malibu Barbie 15-Pan Shadow Palette ($26.00 for 0.53 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that included eight matte shades and seven shimmer shades. Most shades were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing without being a challenge to use, but there were a few shades that were more powdery or sheerer. I had the most trouble with Vintage Doll, while the others were very workable in practice.

Cali Girl

Cali Girl is a pale, white gold with warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was lightly emollient with a smooth feel to it, which helped it apply evenly to bare skin and have the sparkles adhere without fallout. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that stayed on nicely for eight hours.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Vintage Doll

Vintage Doll is a pale pink with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of bluish-pink micro-sparkle. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a more powdery, almost chalky, consistency that made it hard to apply the product evenly. There was fallout during application, and I wasn’t able to build up the coverage. It lasted decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Come On

Let’s Go Party

Let’s Go Party is a medium-dark coral-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, which resulted in some fallout and some sheerness when blended out. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing.” The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they’re not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

West Coast (Malibu Barbie) is a bright, medium-dark yellow with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. Best Coast

Best Coast is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque, buildable pigmentation with a slightly thinner, drier texture, though it wasn’t powdery and blended out without issue but was easier to work with over a primer if one had drier skin. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading and stained my lid slightly.

Malibu Memories is a light-medium blue with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that built up over primer but not bare skin. The texture was thin, slightly drier, and as a result, felt stiffer and wasn’t as blendable as ideal. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

Surf’s Up

Surf’s Up is a light, bluish-teal with warmer, green-gold shifting pearl that gave it a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation paired with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that wasn’t too firmly nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so it picked up well with a dry brush and had good adhesion. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
