ColourPop Sweet Roll Cheek Palette Review & Swatches

Sweet Roll

ColourPop Sweet Roll 4-Pan Cheek Palette ($18.00 for 0.3 oz.) includes one cream highlighter, one shimmery powder blush, and two matte blushes: rich copper, gold-shimmered rusty red, matte plum, and matte reddish-brown. They were fairly as-marketed with respect to pigmentation; the blushes were more buildable and hard to over-apply, though they had enough payoff to show up on skin.

I found that the texture of the blushes was very smooth and finely-milled, which didn’t seem to adhere as well to my arm (which is quite dry) but worked well on my face (ultimately, where I test cheek products!).

Avalon

Avalon is a bright, medium copper with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had opaque pigmentation when applied with a fingertip and more buildable coverage when applied with a brush, as marketed. The consistency felt emollient to the touch, smooth, and lightly spongy with a cream-to-powder formula that worked well over bare skin as well as over foundation. It lasted nicely for 10 hours before fading visibly.

Toffee Cake

Toffee Cake is a medium-dark red with warmer undertones and fine pearl that gave it more of a satin-like sheen when applied and blended out on my cheeks. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable without being too powdery–one of the least powdery shades in the range. It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, so it was more pigmented than marketed, but it could be used with a lighter hand for more buildable coverage if desired. This shade showed signs of fading after eight and a half hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.13 oz. – $61.54 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to go on “smoothly” and have a “natural and healthy flush” that has “long wear” and “can be layered to your desired intensity.” It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one’s skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.

Icing on Top

Icing on Top is a medium-dark, reddish-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery consistency that felt finely-milled and silky to the touch. The blush applied evenly to bare skin and blended out quite well, especially for this type of finish and depth, and wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Sweet Cinnamon

Sweet Cinnamon is a rich, burgundy-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture of this wasn’t as finely-milled as most shades in the quad range, and it impacted the blendability of it on my cheeks. I’d recommend applying this with a feathery brush, building up as desired, and then using a clean, larger powder blush to diffuse and buff it out. The blending was so-so, but the dryness of the blush was present on my skin.

I would be careful about applying it over more powdered/set foundation, too, which seemed to exacerbate the issues. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.
