ColourPop Lush Life Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Lush Life

ColourPop Lush Life 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition (limited life? randomly available?) palette including six matte shades and six shimmers in an assortment of more tropical-inspired hues. It’s really refreshing to see a more colorful palette from the brand that isn’t monochromatic!

I’d love to see them vary up their releases a bit–neutrals are lovely but maybe not back-to-back for months when you release so much. Some of the more interesting colorful mattes take a bit more effort to blend out or require building, but the palette easy enough to work with and had a good mix of lighter and darker shades to be churn out several different types of looks.

Eco

Eco is a darker, yellowy-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that was lightly powdery in the pan. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Eco

LELimited Edition. $4.50.

Wild Life

Wild Life is a light-medium, peachy gold with warmer, more orange undertones and a sparkling finish. It was more loosely-pressed and had light fallout if I wasn’t careful working with it. The color payoff was more semi-opaque and only buildable if I used it with a fingertip. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

It’s Paradise

It’s Paradise is a light-medium, more antique gold with muted, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had nearly opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer or applied with a dampened brush. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Guava

Guava is a muted, medium-dark orange with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, blendable texture that was lightly powdery in the pan but not prone to fallout or sheering out too readily. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Hotness

Hotness is a bright, medium-dark red-orange base with lighter, tangerine shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single application, while the texture was lightly emollient, dense but not thick, and easy to pick up with a dry brush. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Palm Palm

Palm Palm is a bright, chartreuse green with warmer golden shimmer and a slightly more lime green base paired with a metallic finish. The texture was moderately emollient and a bit more slippery than ideal, so the color had a bit of translucency and moved around more readily. I had better luck using a fingertip to keep it in place and then using a dry, fluffy brush to diffuse the edges. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that wore well for eight hours on me.

Juicy

Juicy is a rich, emerald green with strong, cool undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. The product had full color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was lightly emollient, dense but not overly firm or too thick. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Hideaway

Hideaway is a medium copper with moderate, warm undertones–not too orange or too golden–with a metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well as the texture wasn’t too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade lasted nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Noni

Noni is a deep, rusty orange with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, blendable consistency that was lightly powdery but not prone to sheering out and had very minimal fallout. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

On the Prowl

On the Prowl is a dark, forest green with cool undertones and a matte finish. It was green enough not to be a teal to my eye (which usually has a little more blue to it). The texture was slightly thinner compared to the other mattes, which kept it from having powderiness, but it was a little harder to diffuse and blend out in comparison. It had opaque pigmentation that didn’t show signs of fading until after eight and a half hours of wear.

Monsoon

Monsoon is a richer, medium-dark cobalt blue with strong, cool undertones (but not enough to get into purplish territory) paired with a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, slightly drier texture that blended out better than expected. I would recommend using less and building up as necessary, though, to ensure blending doesn’t take too much effort. There were signs of fading after eight and a half hours of wear, and it stained slightly.

Eden

Eden is a medium-dark brown with muted, warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was somewhat powdery in the pan, so it sheered out a bit when initially applied, but it had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that was easy to blend out. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.
