ColourPop It’s a Mood Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

[ad_1]

It’s a Mood

ColourPop It’s a Mood 30-Pan Shadow Palette ($34.00 for 0.92 oz.) is a new palette that includes 26 regular eyeshadows, three Pressed Glitters, and one Pressed Pigment. Ah, you almost thought ColourPop was done with including Pressed Glitters in their eyeshadow palettes, but alas, we were all wrong! wrong! wrong!

Some shades were very nice, some shades were so-so, and the shades that weren’t as high quality were often shades that are less common and tend to be sheerer or more powdery (like matte purples and teals). The three Pressed Glitters seemed drier and were more prone to fallout/migration compared to others I’ve tried in the past, so I did feel like those ratings brought down the palette overall. When I excluded the Pressed Glitter ratings, the palette rated closer to an A- (~90%).

Aside from quality, there was some overlap in shades in practice. For example, Don’t Deny is the better version of Self-Control, as it was very similar in color, depth, and undertone but didn’t have the random sparkle. Stay Close, Everywhere, and It’s a Rush ran together, so I think excluding Everywhere or giving a richer, more red-orange would have made the palette more versatile.

Love Song

Love Song is a light-medium, peachy gold with strong, warm orange undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed and a little drier, despite having a smoother, almost creamy feel to it when I touched it. It had mostly opaque color coverage with slight fallout during application. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Feels Like

Feels Like is a medium, greenish-aqua with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, golden shimmer paired with a metallic sheen. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation, but the texture was slightly drier and thinner, which made it look almost faded and less shimmery once on my lid. Ritual

Ritual is a dark gold with strong, warm undertones that contained smaller and larger glitter particles. It was a pressed glitter, so it was not intended for use around the eye area. Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing.” The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they’re not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

New Moon

New Moon has a darker, reddish-copper base with flecks of finer gold and red glitter and larger, gold glitter pieces. It was a Pressed Glitter, so it is not intended for use around the immediate eye area. The texture was more fragile and loosely-pressed, which resulted in difficulty picking up product evenly. There was more slip, too, that made the glitter get pushed around and not distribute as evenly as ideal. There was noticeable migration of glitter within four and a half hours of wear.

Had to Be

Had to Be is a blackened plum with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color payoff, which was somewhat buildable, and had a moderately powdery texture that was prone to sheering out and had light fallout. The eyeshadow blended out without too much work, though, and it would be best paired with a primer. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

Mystified

Mystified is a darker emerald green with cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and blended out with ease. The texture was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but it wasn’t prone to sheering out or having fallout. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.
